Great day

Unfortunately my camera ran out of juice so I don't have documentation of the events of the day - waaaaaa!  We started this morning at the Kodak theater and Julia had a 2 minute audition.  I think she did very well but who knows what they are looking for.  She had to go before a panel of judges and answer questions by herself.   We will find out next week.  We then walked around Hollywood and had breakfast at Mel's diner - yum!

Then we went to visit my sister Jennifer at the hospital.  She looked much better than I expected and was feeling pretty good today.   They expect to release her in a few days.  It was nice to see her and the kids were really excited to see and talk to her too.

On the way home the boys were going to go surfing but the surf was not that good so we just sat on the beach and watched the waves for a bit.

We stopped at a Mexican market for dinner and had some really good soup ( we were missing Mexico).  And that was that - back home now and ready for another week.  Hope your weekend was great!

Question of the day....

Will someone clue me in if I start wearing high wasted nylon track suits everyday?

Popular

I realized today that I am very thankful that I do not have to relive my childhood.  I had forgotten the stresses of the social ladder that consume your thoughts when you are young.  I guess you still have a bit of that as an adult but people are much nicer.  I hear the things that children say to my children when they come home crying and it makes me sick.  My heart physically aches for them - and still at 39 I am at a loss as to what to tell my children.  I wish I had a way of fixing it for them. I wish I had a magic answer but the plain truth is that kids are mean.  Really mean.  Why is that?  What makes them act that way?  The temptation to be bad must overwhelm them and  they want to test it out and see what happens.  All to often I think it goes unnoticed and so they have to do something even worse.  I guess this is the heartache that parents must endure as they watch their children grow up.   It makes you feel pretty lousy as a parent - wondering if maybe you could have done something different in the process of raising your child to prevent it.   I think all I can do is love them and hope that they know they are loved - and maybe one day they will grow up and forget all about it......until they have children of their own.

Your house

Today in BodyFlow I was talking through the relaxation and made a reference to you body being your house, your home.  A place where you have to live for a long time.  I know I have heard that before but today it kind of hit home - especially with Jennifer in the hospital.  We don't realize how important our home is until it is broken or hard to live in.    I really started thinking about what awful things I do to this house of mine.  How I furnish it with french fries and ice cream.  How that must look - and how much more beautiful it would be on the inside if there were flourishing green plants and vibrant fruit.  I also thought of the jumbled mess my head must be and how much more space could be in there for new things if I could just put some things away. Close them up in a drawer or neatly stack them in the attic, or better yet give them away.   I realized that those crazy thoughts that take up so much room and waste so much time also tend to be there right when I am eating those french fries and ice cream.   Hmmmm .... maybe it is time to clean house.

Say a prayer

Some of you already know but here is an update.  My sister Jennifer was hit by a truck while riding her bike last night.  She is in the hospital and awaiting surgery for a broken hip and she may possibly have a broken ankle.  Her potassium is really low so they can not perform surgery until they can bring it up so at the earliest it will be tomorrow.  She is in quite a bit of pain but seems to be managing it OK with meds.  I will go and see her when I take Julia down this weekend.  Please say a prayer that she receives the best care possible.  Thank you!

Aaaaaahhhhhh.......

The sweet sound of ...... nothing...    When the kids were 2 and 3 and 4 I remember saying to myself that the constant jabber was just a stage and once they could really talk they would slow down.   That does not seem to be the case.  Especially with Jack - he loves to talk and it does not matter who he is talking to - in fact he would be just as happy to talk to himself.   I really can't blame him though.  There have been many times when I have come across John having full conversations with himself.... including laughter.  How nice it would be to be that entertained by oneself.  I guess I am just pretty boring - I do need others to entertain me.  Right now though I am happy to not be entertained and just be still and listen to the soft breathing of my sleeping children.

Gas and Annie

So Adele happened to be at the American Girl store and entered her name in a contest.  The exciting news is that she won!  What did she win you ask?  Well she received a letter in the mail saying that her child (or grandchild) has been selected as one of 50 children to audition for a walk on roll in Annie.    So, this weekend Julia and I are spending 7 hours in the car to get down to the Kodak theater for the audition and back in one day.  Next weekend they will announce the winner.  Julia is now sitting on the couch watching Annie for the first of maybe 25 times this week.  Wish her luck!  She is very excited!
